ACT NOW- ENO INDIA PLANTS

20 May 2011- ENO INDIA alongwith ACT NOW planted several thousand trees all over India on the occasion of ENO Global Tree Planting Day.

Schools, children, youth and NGO’s planted trees in every corner of the world. Trees were planted to celebrate the international year of forests and their importance. Over 5000 schools or groups took part in 137 countries. Around one million trees were planted to celebrate the day.

This 24-hour adventure started  from Oceania where the first trees were planted. Following the Sun, new trees were put to earth in Asia, Europe and Africa. Finally this chain of trees reached the Americas. As the Earth turned on its axis the new trees would have found their new homes.

ENO Tree Planting Day will took place 10th time. It is arranged twice in a year, in May and in September. Tree planting is one of the most popular activities in the ENO Programme, coordinated by the ENO Programme Assocation in Finland. Planters are invited to share their experiences in the global Act Now conference 13- 17 September in Joensuu, Finland.
